Peachy Bourbon Smash

Ingredients

  • 1 peach, peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 oz Maker's Mark, or your favorite bourbon whiskey
  • 3/4 oz homemade peach simple syrup
  • 1/2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 peach slice, to garnish
  • 1 maraschino cherry, to garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the peeled, pitted, and sliced peach into a small saucepan.
  2. Add water and sugar to the saucepan and stir.
  3. Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a boil. Stir and mash the peaches a little bit as the mixture comes to temperature.
  4. Once a light boil has been reached, reduce the heat to simmer and cover the saucepan. Cook for 10 more minutes.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and cover. Allow the mixture to cool for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Strain the mixture and collect the peach syrup in a container. Refrigerate any excess for later use - it will keep for up to 10 days refrigerated in an airtight container.
  7. Combine cocktail ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake for about 15 seconds until the mixture is nice and cold.
  8. Strain the mixture into an old fashioned glass.
  9. Add ice, if desired, then garnish with fresh peach slice and cherry.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy!
