Peachy Bourbon Smash

Ingredients
- 1 peach, peeled, pitted, and sliced
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 oz Maker's Mark, or your favorite bourbon whiskey
- 3/4 oz homemade peach simple syrup
- 1/2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1 peach slice, to garnish
- 1 maraschino cherry, to garnish
Instructions
- Place the peeled, pitted, and sliced peach into a small saucepan.
- Add water and sugar to the saucepan and stir.
- Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a boil. Stir and mash the peaches a little bit as the mixture comes to temperature.
- Once a light boil has been reached, reduce the heat to simmer and cover the saucepan. Cook for 10 more minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and cover. Allow the mixture to cool for at least 30 minutes.
- Strain the mixture and collect the peach syrup in a container. Refrigerate any excess for later use - it will keep for up to 10 days refrigerated in an airtight container.
- Combine cocktail ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake for about 15 seconds until the mixture is nice and cold.
- Strain the mixture into an old fashioned glass.
- Add ice, if desired, then garnish with fresh peach slice and cherry.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
