Ingredients

  • 1 tsp instant coffee granules
  • 1/8 inch fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 inch cinnamon stick
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 1 1/4 cups boiling water
  • 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
  • Crushed ice
  • 2 tbsp Kahlua liqueur (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof jug, combine the instant coffee, ginger, cinnamon stick, cloves, and boiling water.
  2. Allow the mixture to cool completely, then strain it through a fine sieve into a clean jug, discarding the ginger, cinnamon stick, and cloves.
  3. Add the sweetened condensed milk to the jug and stir well to combine.
  4. Fill a serving glass with crushed ice.
  5. Pour the coffee mixture over the ice and add Kahlua if desired.
  6. Stir well and serve immediately.
