Choco-Rum Flip
Indulge in a classic 17th-century chocolate porter flip, updated with dark rum, sugar syrup, and a touch of nutmeg. Perfect for sipping hot or cold.
Ingredients
- 1.70 oz Meantime chocolate porter
- 1.20 oz dark rum
- 0.50 oz sugar syrup
- 1 egg
- grated nutmeg, for serving
Instructions
- For a cold serving, combine the chocolate porter, dark rum, sugar syrup, and egg in a shaker, and shake vigorously without ice to blend and aerate the egg.
- Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously again for 10-15 seconds.
- Strain the mixture into a glass with a few ice cubes, if desired.
- Grate nutmeg over the top before serving.
- For a hot serving, combine the chocolate porter, dark rum, sugar syrup, and egg in a pan.
- Heat the mixture gently while whisking until warmed through, taking care not to overheat and scramble the egg.
- Pour the warmed mixture into a glass and grate nutmeg over the top.
